As above we read about BMI(Body Mass Index), if you have BMI below 18.5 then there are several risk issues that are involved. A study reviewed by University of Pennsylvania School of Medical found that pregnant women whose BMI is below 18.5 had a risk ratio of 1.39 for preterm birth. A low Body Mass Index or BMI can also put a person at risk for cardiovascular complications, anemia and amenorrhea.

Workout and Adequate sleep are two other important aspects for gaining weight. Focusing on movements like deadlift, squats and bench press will help in gaining weight as these exercises involve more than one muscle and help in releasing more Human Growth Hormone. Also getting 8-10 hours of quality sleep is required so that you give enough time to muscles to repair themselves.
