Adsense is a part of Google Advertising network that acts as a front end for the publishers. Adsense provides earning reports and ad codes which you can place on your web space and more the visitors to see ad more would be your income.
Now after having a active blog or a website you need to get it approved by the Google Adsense. For that your site must have quality content and must be active. Adsense income is directly proportional to the number of people visiting your site and viewing the ads as more the visitors more chances to get clicks on the ads and Adsense pays you for every click that is done on your ad-unit.
Basic Terminology of Google Adsense :
1. RPM : RPM stands for Revenue Per Thousand Miles, in simple terms RPM means Estimated Income Per 1000 impressions. You have to increase your Adsense RPM if you want to make high income from Google Adsense.
2. CPC : CPC stands for Cost Per Click, it denotes how much you get for per click.
3. CTR : CTR stands for Click Through Rate, it is percentage how much click you get out of your total page views.
How much can I earn with Adsense
Now the main question arises how much one can make with Google Adsense. There is no exact clarification that how much you can make with Google Adsense. The income made by you from Google Adsense depends upon the traffic of your site, more the traffic you get more would be your income. All is about showing ads to more and more people who are visiting your site.
Suppose you have 1000 page views per day, now out of 1000 only few clicks on ad and there is different rates at which you get paid according to different countries, like if click is from US, Canada, or UK then you will get more compared to rest of the world. Now out of 1000 page views suppose you get 20 clicks then you can make around $5 for these clicks and your RPM would be $5 so you will get $5 per 1000 page views. If you are having good organic traffic from search engines then per 1000 visitors you can easily make around $20, but normally the income generated per 1000 page views is around $5-$10.
Therefore, you need to have around 5000 visitors per day if you want to make around $30 to $40 and I consider it good income
Some Important parts to focus upon
Ad Placement
Ad placement is most essential part for every ad publisher who really want to make money with his website or blog. Ads must be placed at perfect place to get maximum clicks out of minimum impressions. In the previous days when I was just working on simple theme that only have ads in sidebar I hardly get a click per 100 visitors but when I changed whole layout and place ads after research and inside the posts it give amazing output. It raised my CTR to 5% that means 5 click out of 100 impressions which is really good.
Placing the ads inside the posts or between the content is most beneficial as the attract more attention then the ads which lay in the sidebar or header or footer, we all know that if a ad is between the content then it will surely influence all the readers and there is more chances to get the click.
Blog Theme
The theme of the blog matters a lot, it is the most influencing factor that can positively or negatively influence your earnings. Theme is what describes the quality of a blog. The blogs with premium themes have more suitable ad space which can get more clicks compared to a low quality or regular theme and even most of the quality ads which generates high revenue are only served by the adsense only on the quality blogs. This was the factor which is responsible behind the success of my blog. This is the only reason that enforce me to move to a high quality themes.
